The Coleman Center for the Arts and the Sumter County Fine Arts Council will be hosting their Annual Juried Art Show at the Coleman Center for the Arts from February 8th to April 3rd. The opening reception will take place Friday, February 8th from 6 to 8 pm.
This juried show will feature the artwork of Sumter County artists, and $600 in cash prizes will be awarded. Anne Arrasmith and Peter Prinz, founding directors of the Alabama arts organization Space One Eleven in Birmingham, will be the guest jurors.
Entry forms are available from the Coleman Center for the Arts, in York, and from the Julia S. Tutwiler Library at the University of West Alabama. Entrants should drop off their artworks at the Coleman Center gallery in York on Saturday, January 26th from 11 AM to 2 PM, and on Monday, January 28th from 3 PM to 6 PM. On February 2, 2008 from 8am to 8pm Space One Eleven, a non-profit artists run organization in Birmingham, is offering a program on career development, networking, grant writing and research, and other opportunities for visual artists. The program is a collaboration between Space One Eleven, the College Art Association, and the University of Alabama. The cost is $20 per person and spaces must be reserved by January 22, 2008.
