October 31, 2009
The Coleman Center for the Arts is working with the City of York and the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation to plant a small fruit tree orchard in Cherokee Park. The trees will be planted on Saturday, October 31st from 10 am to 4 pm. Please help make this wonderful addition to Cherokee Park by volunteering to help plant!
The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation’s chief arborist will direct this planting. Activities will include digging, planting, mulching, learning new skills from an arborist, and having lots of fun! No experience is necessary, and a rewarding experience is guaranteed, rain or shine! You can also help out by bringing an extra shovel, digging tools, work gloves, or lawn chair. The True Vine Fellowship Church in York will provide refreshments.
The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation (FTPF) is an award-winning international nonprofit charity dedicated to planting fruitful trees and plants to alleviate world hunger, combat global warming, and improve the surrounding air, soil, and water. FTPF programs strategically donate orchards where the harvest will best serve communities for generations, at places such as public schools, low-income neighborhoods, and international hunger relief sites.
