Bob Snead @ Pop Start!

The Coleman Center for the Arts is pleased to welcome New Orleans artist Bob Snead for a new performance of his “Family Dollar General Tree Project” at Pop Start in downtown York. Please join us on Saturday, June 28th and help us stock the shelves!

Snead’s methodical installation consists of over 200 sculptures of common household items sold at Dollar Stores, assembled from the cardboard boxes in which they are shipped. The installation pits contemporary art practice against consumerism in a whimsical investigation of contemporary object making. Atendees will help in making a human assembly line and “stock the shelves.”

Food will be prepared by local chef Yaweh Awolowo, with ingredients purchased from York’s three dollar stores. This event is free and open to the public! All are welcome!

This program is made possible by funding from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, the Alabama State Council on the Arts, and the Visual Artists Network. For more information please contact the Coleman Center for the Arts at 205-392-2005 or email colemancenter@gmail.com.
