Calling all Sumter County youth ages 8-18: you are invited to “Camp Pop!” Experiment in visual, performing and culinary arts at the Coleman Center for the Arts’ one-week summer camp! Camp will run June 9-13, Monday through Friday from 10 am to 4 pm, with a closing celebration on June 13 from 6-8 pm.

This year’s summer camp will have a POP! theme. We will be investigating anything pop related: Pop Art, pop culture, pop music, and various pop-up phenomena including storefront projects, performances, street-level art, and so on. Participants will gain experience in visual art, music, performance, creative writing and critical thinking. Camp offers one track for campers age 8-12 and one for campers 13-18, each tailored to the needs and interests of participants. Varied, tasty and balanced lunches will be provided every day.

An all-star group of artists and educators will lead sessions at the Coleman Center for the Arts’ Summer Camp including Shana Berger, Darius Hill, Gary James Nathan Purath, Catherine Shelton, Kanita Sturdivant, Boo Gilder and Erik Witherspoon!

Space is limited to 24 campers, so don’t wait too long to sign up. Reserve your space in camp by filling out a registration form and turning it into the Coleman Center by May 30th. Slots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Registration forms are available at the Coleman Center office (on Avenue A in York), the Hightower Library, the Ruby Pickens Tartt Library, Sumter Central High School, Sumter Academy, York West End Jr. High, Livingston Jr. High, Kinterbish Jr. High and North Sumter Jr. High.
