SCFAC 2007

The Coleman Center for the Arts and the Sumter County Fine Arts Council are hosting their Annual Art and Photography Exhibition at the Coleman Center gallery from April 17th to May 25th.

We are pleased to announce the winners. 1st place and a $200 cash prize was awarded to basket maker Mary Jane Everett, 2nd place and a $125 cash prize was awarded to glass artist Linda Munoz, and 3rd place and a $75 cash prize was awarded to furniture maker James Cockrell. Honorable mentions with a $50 cash prize were awarded to painter Joyce Chambless, artist and UWA faculty Nick Davis, painter Saresa Love Finch, designer Lillie Mack, ceramicist and UWA faculty Jessica Smith, and quilter Alma Turner.

Randy Shoults, Community Arts Program Manager of the Alabama State Council on the Arts, was this year’s juror. He was impressed with the quality and variety of the works in the show. The judging was difficult, and he conveyed his congratulations to all who participated.

This annual show is a chance to showcase the artistic talent of Sumter County, and for local artists to receive feedback and recognition for their work from an accomplished juror. This year’s show features painting, basketry, quilts, glass work, furniture, ceramics, mixed media, and photography.

The Coleman Center would like to thank the Sumter County Fine Arts Council, the University of West Alabama, Di’s Hope, Randy Shoults, and all of the artists who participated to make this year’s show a tremendous success.
