SCFAC 2013

The Coleman Center for the Arts (CCA) is pleased to announce the Sumter County Fine Arts Council (SCFAC) Annual Juried Show. The show will open this Friday, March 15th at 6 PM and will be on display until April 18th.

The show features the work of Sumter County artists and includes painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, quilting, furniture, stained glass and more. 1st prize was awarded to Mattie Dunning for her quilt, Wagon Wheel; 2nd place was awarded to Jessica Smith for her ceramic sculpture, Bounce; 3rd place went to Alicia Seale for her mixed media sculpture with handcrafted felting, Mermaid Alter. Honorable mentions were awarded to James Goodwin for his digital photograph, Symbolisms of the Establishments, to Larry Herr for his photograph, Good Morning Glory and to James Cockrell for his handmade Bird House.

The show featured work that was particularly colorful and vibrant. The artists spanned all ages, backgrounds and artistic mediums, and the work provides an overview of the creative talents so abundant in Sumter County.

Juror
Darius Hill is the Visual Arts Specialty Chair at the Alabama School of Fine Arts. He holds a BFA in printmaking from the Atlanta College of Art. His art work has been exhibited in galleries throughout the southeast, including the New Vision Gallery, Atlanta, GA; the University of Montevallo, Montevallo, AL; and the Crossroads Initiative, New Orleans, LA. His works are represented in many museum, corporate and private collections throughout the U.S.
